Flash Rotator Web Part

The Flash Movie Rotator Web Part selects a random Flash movie file from the specified Sharepoint Picture Library. The Web Part can also be used to display a single static Flash movie by specifying a filename in the "Flash Movie Name" parameter field. The Web Part can be used with Windows Sharepoint Services V3, MOSS 2007, Sharepoint 2010, Sharepoint 2013 and Sharepoint Online/Office365. Installation Instructions:

1. download the Flash Rotator Web Part Installation Instructions (PDF file, see above) 
2. download and unpack the AEFlashRotatorWebpart.zip file.
3. either install the web part manually or deploy the feature to your server/farm as described in the instructions. Navigate to a page where you would like to place the webpart and choose "Site Actions/Edit Page"
4. Add the web part to the appropriate zone. The web part is listed in the "Miscellaneous" web part gallery section
5. Configure the 5 following Web Part properties in the Web Part Editor "Miscellaneous" pane section as needed:
   
   
• Site Name: Enter the name of the site that contains the Spotlight Picture Library:
  - leave this field empty if the Library is in the current site (eg. the Web Part is placed in the same site)
  - Enter a "/" character if the Library is contained in the top site
  - Enter a path if the Library is in a subsite of the current site (eg. in the form of "current site/subsite")
  
• List Name: Enter the desired Sharepoint Picture Library
  
• View Name: Optionally enter the desired List View of the list specified above. A List View allows you to specify specific data filtering and sorting.
  Leave this field empty if you want to use the List default view.
  
• Flash Movie Name: if you rather want to statically display a specific Flash movie from the specified Picture Library. In this case enter the Flash file name (without any path information).
  You also can pass this value via a connected Web Part.
  
• Flash Width: enter the desired width of the Flash movie(s) in pixels
• Flash Height: enter the desired height of the Flash movie(s) in pixels
• Autoplay: check this field if you want to start the Flash movie automatically without user intervention.
• Alignment: specify the horizontal placing of the Flash movie:
  - Left
  - Center
  - Right

I got it to work! After seeing the bkgd color get stripped in your board in the above post I realized that was the problem. I used pictures saved as swfs instead and it works like a charm. Juerg   6/26/2009 15:46  Tricia, no it can't since you need a specific player for this file format (the flash plug-in cannot play flv files). We read on other boards that you must set file handling to permissive to allow swfs, but still have not had luck. The Object ID shows up, but the swf (which works in 2007) just shows as a blank box. Is there anything in particular we have to do differently on 2010? Also, is there a way to start at a frame that is not the first frame? Thank you! Juerg   10/21/2011 13:39  Tim, we have now added the new �Autoplay� web part option which specifies whether a timeline-based SWF file begins playing immediately on loading in the browser. There is unfortunately no option offered by the Adobe Flash player object which would allow to specify the start frame (see also official Flash documentation at http://kb2.adobe.com/cps/127/tn_12701.html). Please re-download the updated Zip file from our web site , extract and then replace the DLL, followed by an �iisreset� command if you placed the DLL in c:\windows\assembly. The web part will now select a random file from the specified library each time you visit the page.
