Number of Web-based applications for Windows NT Server 4.0 skyrockets
Market fueled by increasing deployment of Windows NT Server with integrated Internet Information Server (Zona Research)
Redmond, WA It seems to prove the saying: build it and they will come.
Independent software vendors (ISVs) have now developed more than 250 out-of-the-box Web-based applications for the Microsoft Windows NT Server 4.0 platform, according to Microsoft. The company reports that that's more than any other Web platform and up substantially in the past year alone. Windows NT Server includes tools that allow developers to quickly and easily create Web applications, including support for Active Server Pages (ASP) technology.
"Windows NT Server enabled us to bring our client-server application to the Web without sacrificing deployability, performance or scalability for our customers," said Rajeev Singh, vice president of products for Portable Software Corporation. "This platform provides an industrial-strength application server with the rapid development and flexibility of using Active Server Pages."
