Display a Birthday greeting

This post shows how to set up the "User Spotlight" web part (see /apps/page.asp?Q=5783) to display a greeting message if today's date matches the current user's birthdate.
The web part is thus only shown to the user(s) who have their birthday on today's date, eg. it is hidden to all other users.

Place the web part onto a page (as eg. your Intranet homepage) and then configure it as follows:

• "Field Template": as needed (see example below)
• "Show new Entry": Birthday
• "Show Profile of": current

The above example uses the below field template:
